How to calculate COD e-commerce profit

COD profit depends on how many orders are successfully delivered and how much each delivered or returned order costs. This calculator estimates monthly profit using your order volume, selling price, product cost, shipping, RTO, COD fees and advertising cost.

Start with monthly orders

Enter the number of orders you expect to receive in a month. The calculator separates delivered orders from RTO orders using the RTO percentage you enter.

Account for delivered revenue

Revenue is counted only on delivered orders in this calculator. A higher RTO rate therefore reduces the number of orders that generate revenue.

Include COD and shipping costs

Shipping and COD fees can materially affect COD profitability. Include your actual per-order charges when possible.

Include RTO costs

Returned orders can still create logistics costs even though they do not generate completed-sale revenue. The calculator applies the RTO cost to the expected returned orders.

Include advertising cost

Advertising cost per order is multiplied by monthly orders in this calculator. This helps show how acquisition costs affect the monthly profit estimate.

Why delivered orders matter

Increasing order volume does not automatically increase profit. If RTO or advertising costs are high, additional orders can produce less profit than expected.

Frequently asked questions

What is COD profit?

COD profit is the profit remaining after the costs associated with cash-on-delivery orders, including product, shipping, COD, advertising and return-related costs included in the calculation.

Does RTO reduce COD profit?

Yes. RTO reduces the number of delivered orders that generate revenue and can add return-related logistics costs.

How is monthly COD profit calculated?

This calculator estimates delivered orders from total monthly orders and RTO rate, calculates delivered revenue, then subtracts product, shipping, RTO, COD and advertising costs.

Can increasing orders reduce profit?

It can if additional orders come with high RTO, high advertising costs or other costs that consume the contribution from each order.
